Short version: the Disk Butler app collects nothing. It scans your Mac, on your Mac, and nothing it finds is sent anywhere.
Disk Butler reads file and folder sizes on the drives you point it at, to find space you can free up. That information stays on your Mac. The app does not log, upload, sell, or otherwise transmit anything about your files, your Mac, or you.
Once in a while, the app checks this site's version file to see whether a newer build exists, so it can tell you. That request carries no information about you or your Mac — it's the same request anyone would get fetching that one small file. You can see exactly what it reads: it's public, right there. There is no other network activity, and no setting turns this into anything more.
This site serves pages, the beta download, and — once Pro is on sale — a license-purchase flow. It does not use tracking cookies or analytics scripts. It does not sell or share data with advertisers.
If you sign up for the "tell me when Pro opens" list, we store your email address only to send that one notification, plus a hashed (not reversible) record of your IP address used only to stop abuse of the sign-up form. We don't use your email for anything else, and don't share it.
If you buy Pro, payment is handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your card details. Stripe receives what it needs to process the payment (your email and payment details), under its own privacy policy. We store your email, the order id, and the license key tied to that order, so we can show it to you again on the confirmation page and help if you lose it.
macOS may ask you to grant Disk Butler Full Disk Access so it can see folders that are protected by default, such as other apps' containers. That access is used only to look for space to free up — on your Mac, by the app running on your Mac. It is never used to read or send your personal files anywhere.
Disk Butler never scans, reads, or touches iCloud Drive or iCloud-synced folders, whether or not you've granted Full Disk Access. This is enforced in the app's code, not just a setting you could accidentally change.
Disk Butler is not directed at children and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
